FAQ

K-12 compliance & accessibility, answered.

Searchable answers to the questions district IT, instructional technology, and special education teams ask us most often about Apple deployments.

14 answers

CIPA — Children's Internet Protection Act

CIPA applies to any district that receives E-Rate or LSTA funding. Apple deployments can be CIPA-compliant when paired with the right filtering and policy.

COPPA — Children's Online Privacy Protection Act

COPPA applies to operators of online services directed to children under 13, or that knowingly collect data from them. Schools play a specific role under COPPA when authorizing services for educational use.

FERPA — Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

FERPA protects the privacy of student education records. Apple's services for K-12 are designed to support FERPA-aligned deployments.

Accessibility & IEP / 504 Considerations

Apple devices include the broadest set of built-in accessibility features of any mainstream platform — and they can be configured per-student to support IEPs and 504 plans.

Still have a compliance question?

We can review your district's filtering, privacy, and accessibility configurations and map them to CIPA, COPPA, FERPA, and Section 504 requirements.
